About Steven Merrill and the Studio

Steven Merrill has over 30 years experience in makeup artistry and facials and over 17 years experience in hair services, including cut, color and styling.

It all began with Chanel in 1981 when Steven began working as a make-up artist on their main accounts at Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Saks 5th Avenue, Marshall Field’s and Sakowitz in Houston.

Two years later, Steven was in business for himself providing facials and makeup instruction.

In the late 1980′s, Steven moved to Paris, working as a makeup artist for the Parisian prêt a porter (ready to wear) shows including: Thierry Mugler, Bernard Perris, Dorothee Bis and Sonya Rykeil among others.

Back state-side Steven also studied under Hollywood make up artists Maurice Stein and The Westmores. Steven’s clients included Cybill Shepard, Queen Faruta of Egypt and models Dianne DeWitt and Beverly Johnson. In addition to doing runway shows for Perry Ellis, Halston, Micheal Volbracht and Victor Costa.

Upon returning to the United States, Steven went back to school and added hair services to his repertoire. Since 1993, Steven Merrill Studio has been able to offer a complete range of beauty services, including makeup application, hair styling and facial services.

Steven Merrill Studio is located near the intersection of Kirby and Westheimer and provides a unique locale for a beauty experience. Tucked away in a secluded spot of the Upper Kirby district, this private salon offers hospitality, unparalleled service and one-on-one treatments in a lush, garden patio setting.

One visit to the studio will convince you that this is the place to be for private, unhurried service. Clients are never double-booked and appointments are spaced so there is little to no wait time.
